PRSSS World Soil Day Virtual Soil Science Trivia and Art Competition on Saturday, December 5, 2020
To celebrate World Soil Day, the PRSSS hosted a virtual pub-style Soil Science themed trivia night on Saturday, December 5th from 6:45 PM to 9:00 PM (Pacific Daylight Time) using Zoom WITH PRSSS SWAG PRIZES! A registration fee of $5 was required, with proceeds going to a the Vancouver Food Bank.
Trivia guidelines were:
- Teams of 3 or 4 people
- Teams must not google answers and will work on the honour system
- A ‘scribe’ was suggested to write down questions and answers
- Questions were given in blocks of 10-20 at a time
- After a block of questions, teams were into breakout groups to discuss for 10 minutes, then came back to score
- Teams had soil themed names
We were seeking Soil Science themed art submissions for the competition. Our winner Glen Healy received
a PRSSS swag bag and had his artwork shared via the PRSSS website.
Art Competition guidelines were:
- Soil Science themed art submission
- Any freestyle form of art is eligible for submission (digital, hand drawn, soil pigments)
- Winner will be selected during the Trivia Night through audience participation
- Participants do not have to play trivia to enter
