2022 Summer Soil ID Course – South Vancouver Island Peninsula

Are you eager to dig some pits and refresh you soil hand texturing skills? If so, fill out the form below to express your interest in the PRSSS 2022 Soil ID Course, happening May 3rd – 5th on Vancouver Island! The course will be led by local soil experts and we will explore a variety of soils from wetlands to glaciomarine and forests.  Please note that completing this form does not guarantee you a spot. Space is limited to 25 participants. If more than 25 are interested, priority will be given to residents that live in the area and the First Nations community.

Cost

  • $100 – students
  • $200 – professionals

To attend the course you must be a 2022/2023 PRSSS member (membership fees are $10 for students and $20 for professionals).

Participant Information

Accommodations and Food

For participants who requested camping accommodation, camping will occur at the Saanich Peninsula. The cost is to be determined.

Participants are responsible for their own meals for the duration of the trip. A group dinner is likely to be planned on May 4th.

Please bring cash for payment or e-transfer prsssemail@gmail.com in advance. Bring extra cash if you’re interested in purchasing soil books or PRSSS merchandise!

Travel

Car sharing is likely to be the preferred method of travel; however, vehicles may be rented if there is not enough room.
